Formed in 1998, ISLE of KLEZBOS creates a unique blend of neo-traditional and innovative sounds, exploring Yiddish roots and far beyond. The soulful, fun-loving all-gal klezmer powerhouse features alumnae of Juilliard, Eastman, Berklee and Manhattan Schools of Music, led by Metropolitan Klezmer drummer Eve Sicular (her Russian History & Literature degree from Harvard), whose related projects also includ "The Yiddish Celluloid Closet" and "J. Edgar Klezmer: Songs from My Grandmother's FBI Files." Collaborations for Isle of Klezbos have included Jill Sobule's Songs from Yentl, studio sessions for Scissor Sisters, and broadcast music for CBS Sunday Morning to The L Word. The band's annual KlezBiGay Pride celebrations have recently featured the likes of Lisa Kron, Jackie Hoffman, Jennifer ("Circus Amok") Miller, Juilan Fleisher, Deb Margolin.
